June 2021

Each spring, United Way of 1000 Lakes hosts an annual Health and Hygiene Drive to collect essential toiletries and other small items to help children and adults meet their basic needs.

How you can help

Collect donations at your workplace, place of worship, civic group, or business. Would you like to host a Health & Hygiene dropbox? Let us know and we’ll set you up with a toolkit and direct donors to your dropbox! Get started

Drop off donations. Drop off individual items or care packages at a dropbox site.

Donate a gas card. The economic impact of COVID-19 on families and individuals means that it’s becoming harder for some to afford transportation. The next time you’re filling up your tank, buy a gas card for a neighbor in need!

Host a pop-up packing project. Holding a personal care packaging project is a great way to get involved! Collect donations, and then gather your coworkers, team, or friends to spend time assembling care packages together! Get started

Make a personal care package at home. Collect items for a child, adult, or family and pack them into a container, basket, bag, or T-shirt tote. Attach a Personal Care tag to each care package to indicate the age it’s intended for. Care packages can be dropped off at United Way on Tuesdays and Thursdays or at a dropbox location. Instructions: Personal Care Package | T-shirt Tote | Personal Care Tags

Shop for items from one of our online wish lists to help out while staying safe at home! Items can be shipped directly to United Way. Wish Lists: Target | Amazon

Sponsor a virtual care package. Don’t have time to pack a care package or shop for items? No problem! Support the Health & Hygiene Drive by sponsoring a virtual care package. Text LAKES to 26989 and select “Health, Hygiene, & Basic Needs” from the dropdown menu – or, give online. Sponsor

Health and hygiene items can be dropped off at United Way or at a dropbox location in our service area. Curbside drop-off is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For curbside pickup, call 999-7570 and we’ll come outside to pick up your items. Or, come inside to deliver items to our office.
