United Way Supporters Set Sights on Bold Goal

On Saturday, September 7th, over 600 United Way of 1000 Lakes supporters and 78 volunteers came out to make a difference in the community and celebrate United Way’s 2019-2020 Campaign Kickoff. This event officially launches United Way’s annual fundraising campaign, which aims to raise $320,000 to support over 30 programs and initiatives in the Itasca Area.

The event featured the annual 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run along with a pancake cook-off competition and pancake breakfast.  Awards were given out to the chef with the best pancake creation (MDI Flapjack Flippers), best dressed lumberjack (Dominick Kenjalo), and top Virtual 5K fundraising team (ASV Holdings, Inc.).

United Way of 1000 Lakes believes in the power of unity to create lasting change.  With the help of determined supporters United Way will put opportunity into the hands of thousands across the Itasca area. United Way invites community members to be a part of the passionate team of doers and trailblazers that make up this unstoppable force for good.  There is a role for everyone – how will you play your part?

There are many opportunities to give and make a difference right where you live, work and play.  Giving can be done through workplace payroll deductions, cash gifts, direct billing or online credit card options at uwlakes.org.  Each donation made through United Way of 1000 Lakes is tax deductible and directly impacts 1-in-3 people living in the Itasca Area.

You can also volunteer your time and talents for the betterment of the community.  There are many volunteer opportunities throughout the year–not just during campaign season.  United Way of 1000 Lakes focuses on health, education, and meeting the basic needs of everyone in our community.

Please help us continue this life-changing work by playing your part.  Want to get involved? Contact United Way at info@uwlakes.org or by phone at 218-999-7570.
