United Way Seeks Day of Action Volunteers
United Way’s largest volunteer initiative, the annual Day of Action, occurs on Tuesday, June 21st, 2022. In partnership with Habitat for Humanity, Community and Economic Development Associates (CEDA), the City of Deer River, and other community partners, United Way will bring volunteers from across the Itasca area to downtown Deer River for a day of giving back.
Beginning at 8 a.m., volunteers will work on community revitalization projects throughout the city’s downtown neighborhood, including cleaning up debris after the May 30th storm, installing public art, working in Get Fit Itasca’s community garden, and repainting street lines. A wide variety of projects means that volunteers of varying ages and skill sets can contribute.

Community members are invited to lend their time and volunteer for a full- or half-day shift. Corporate, church, educational, and civic groups can sign up and work together as a team.
Volunteers can sign up at uwlakes.org/day-of-action or on Bonfire, the online volunteer portal hosted by United Way. Questions can be directed to United Way at 218-999-7570 or info@uwlakes.org.
