United Way of 1000 Lakes 2027 Community Impact Grant Cycle Now Open
United Way of 1000 Lakes is now accepting applications for its 2027 Community Impact Grants, supporting local nonprofit programs that strengthen our communities and create opportunities for people to thrive.
The grant program provides flexible funding to nonprofit organizations serving vulnerable, marginalized, and ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) households throughout the greater Itasca County region. Grants support programs that help people meet immediate needs while creating pathways to long-term stability and opportunity.
Preference will be given to programs that align with United Way’s Community Impact Framework and one or more of its impact pillars:
Ready Kids, Resilient Families: Supporting children and families throughout the educational journey, from early childhood and afterschool enrichment to parenting skills and home stability.
Family Financial Stability: Helping families overcome barriers, build economic mobility, and achieve resilience through employment training, financial coaching, and asset building. Healthy
Minds & Bodies: Promoting overall health and wellbeing by increasing access to healthcare, encouraging social connectedness, and creating opportunities for healthy lifestyle choices.
Nonprofit organizations interested in applying must submit and initial proposal by 5 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026.
Community Investment Panelists play an essential role in helping United Way invest dollars back into our community. Volunteers receive training and work with United Way staff to review grant applications, visit local organizations, evaluate program outcomes, and make funding recommendations to United Way’s Board of Directors. Panelists evaluate applications based on alignment with United Way’s Community Impact Framework, equitable service delivery, potential for measurable results, and sound fiscal and management practices. No special experience is required—just a willingness to learn, ask questions, and help make a difference in greater Itasca communities. Interested in serving?
