For its seventh running, the Lumberjack Mile & 5K is coming up on Saturday, September 9th, and it’s time to get registered.

There’s a 5K run, a 1-mile walk, and a virtual version of each.

The route will again feature a scenic riverside course that crosses over two bridges and under one, where you will have beautiful views of the Mississippi River. The race starts at 9 a.m. from Grand Rapids Public Utilities, adjacent to the Itasca County Family YMCA, where it begins and ends.

Participants are encouraged to wear their Lumberjack best. Awards will be presented following the race, recognizing top finishers in each division and “Best dressed.”

In addition to choosing race distance, participants can complete the run or walk virtually in the location and time they choose.

“We’re excited to be back for our seventh run,” said Kimberly Brink Smith, United Way’s Executive Director. “The Lumberjack Mile & 5K is always a good time for everyone involved, especially fun for families and groups who participate together.”

Race entry ranges from $35-$40 for adults and $25 – $30 for children. The race packet, guaranteed to early registrants, includes a limited-edition, collectible T-shirt designed by Jenny Farber of Chaotic Beauty Artistry (a Grand Rapids-based artist).

Proceeds from the race will be reinvested into the community through United Way’s Community Impact Fund, helping improve the lives of children and adults throughout the Itasca area.
