Golf Ball Drop Returns to Forest Lake in Grand Rapids

Grand Rapids State Bank Frozen Fairways Golf Classic organizers announce the return of the annual Golf Ball Drop. This year marks the event’s fifth year, organized by local businesses through United Way of 1000 Lakes’ Small Business Circle (SBC365).

On Saturday, February 24th, five hundred numbered golf balls will drop from above onto the frozen Forest Lake to determine the prize winners. The Golf Ball Drop is among the festivities at the Frozen Fairways Golf Classic which starts at 11 a.m. and includes food vendors, a beach bar, fire pits, a silent auction, and raffles.

Raffle tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the United Way office, North in Bloom (204 NW 1st Ave., Grand Rapids), and other business locations. United Way board members and event organizers will also be out in the community promoting ticket sales leading up to the event. Look for them at familiar venues and during the First Friday Art Walk on February 2nd at Rapids Brewing Co. Tickets can also be reserved by sending a check to United Way of 1000 Lakes at 350 NW 1st Ave., Suite A, Grand Rapids, MN 55744.

The drop will take place at the tournament’s close (3:3ff0 p.m.) along Blandin Beach, at 601 NW 10th Ave in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Tickets will be available for sale until the day of the raffle or until all tickets have been sold, whichever occurs first.

Five prizes worth over $1,000 will be raffled, including the Grand Prize of $500 cash! Additional prizes include (1) $250, (2) $100, and (1) $50. Entrants must be 18+ years of age. Winners do not need to be present to win.

Proceeds support new and ongoing initiatives helping Itasca families achieve financial well-being through the Small Business Circle (SBC365). Learn more about how to get involved in SBC365 at uwlakes.org/sbc-365.
