Cohasset Announced as 2025 United Way Day of Action Host
June will mark the twelfth annual Day of Action for United Way of 1000 Lakes, and this year, the community of Cohasset is honored to host the event. As the largest one-day volunteer event in Itasca County, the Day of Action brings together more than 100 volunteers from across the region each June to complete community-enhancing projects.
Projects during Day of Action range from painting, cleaning, and landscaping to park enhancements and trail signage in the City’s parks and area trails. Volunteers contribute half or full days of service, providing valuable assistance that helps maintain and improve the community.
Since its inception in 2013, the Day of Action has been a crucial part of Itasca County’s volunteer-driven efforts, with 1,155 volunteers contributing over 6,807 hours of service. This volunteerism has resulted in an estimated value of $173,680 to the community, according to the Independent Sector’s annual volunteer hour rate.
In January 2025, the Cohasset City Council committed to being the host of this year’s event, joining a list of communities that have already benefitted from the initiative, including Bovey, Coleraine, Deer River, Grand Rapids, and Marble.
Cohasset Mayor Josh Casper expressed the city’s excitement about this opportunity, saying, “It is a true honor to work with United Way and the many volunteers who will dedicate their time and effort to help improve our city. Cohasset is grateful for this opportunity and looks forward to a successful Day of Action.”
The 2025 United Way Day of Action is expected to have a lasting impact on Cohasset, as volunteers work together to complete meaningful projects that will benefit the community for years to come.
