5 Reasons to Round-Up for United Way

Did you know that rounding up your spare change is one of the many ways you can support United Way? Link your credit or debit card and gather your spare change to support our community, a little bit at a time.

  1. Your spare change can make a big difference. Every time you make a purchase with your debit or credit card, your total is rounded up to the nearest dollar amount, with the extra change going towards your monthly donation. Over time, this change adds up, allowing you to make a difference year-round.
  2. You can start small. With United Way’s Round-Up program, you’re never donating more than 99 cents at a time. Every time you shop, eat at a restaurant, or fill up your car with gas, any spare change left over accumulates. Once a month, this amount is sent to United Way as a gift in your name.
  3. You can control how much you give. United Way’s Round-Up program gives donors the option to cap their gift each month. If your budget only allows for $5 or $10 a month in charitable donations, that’s okay – you can set up your account so that spare change only accumulates up to a certain amount. This way, you can make sure you’re never giving more than you can afford.
  4. Round-Up donations are tax-deductible, just as any charitable gifts are.
  5. A little bit goes a long way. Rounding up supports the health, education, financial, and basic needs of families and individuals across the Itasca area. When you give each month, you’re helping us sustain our work and that of the 24+ nonprofit programs we support. A gift to United Way is an investment in our community, and by making a recurring gift, you’re playing a role in creating long-term change, right here at home.
